Dance Marathon at the University of South Carolina is the largest student-run philanthropic organization on the University of South Carolina – Columbia campus. We hold an annual spring event that celebrates the culmination of a year’s worth of efforts to raise financial and emotional support for the patients of Prisma Health Children’s Hospital - Midlands, located in Columbia.

Prisma Health Children’s Hospital - Midlands is a member of the Children’s Miracle Network and is the largest freestanding children’s hospital in the state, serving over 150,000 children throughout South Carolina.

Dance Marathon is not a competition and does not require the ability to dance! While dancers are taught a fun and easy line dance throughout the course of the event, they also take part in fun-filled games and contests, as well as enjoy entertainment from musicians, comedians and performance groups. Dancers are visited by miracle families, who share their touching stories, reminding them that what they are doing is making a difference in the lives of others.

2024 will be Dance Marathon’s 26th year at the University of South Carolina. The first Dance Marathon was held in the Russell House ballroom in 1999. Since then, it has grown to become the largest student-run philanthropy on campus and remains one of the only events to unite a wide variety of student and community members. It has affiliated itself with the Prisma Health Children’s Hospital in Columbia as a proud member of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. For the past four years, USCDM won Student Organization of the Year and, from 2018-2020 raised over $1 million for the kids. To this day, USCDM has raised over $8 million for Prisma Health Children’s Hospital - Midlands with no sign of stopping anytime soon.
